Neighborhood overview

The Central Business District, also known as Downtown and The Golden Triangle, is bordered by the Monongahela River to the south, the Allegheny River to the north and I-579 to the east.

This area plays host to the Pittsburgh Cultural District which houses a variety of theaters and concert venues along with restaurants and galleries catering to theatre-goers.

Current occupancy rates are approximately 89%. In 2013, downtown Pittsburgh had the second lowest Class A vacancy among downtowns in the country*.

Major Industries

The Golden Triangle is home to a number of Fortune 500 companies including: The H. J. Heinz Company, PNC Financial Services, PPG Industries, and US Steel. It also houses any array of hotels, restaurants, and industries supporting tourism to the city of Pittsburgh.

ACCESSIBILITY & Parking

The Central Business District is served by local light rail, The T, an extensive bus network, as well as the Duquesne and Monongahela Inclines. The city is accessible from the Parkway North (I-279), the Parkway West (I-376), as well as I-579 creating easy access from nearly every direction. Once arriving in the Downtown the area is easily walkable and served by a variety of car services.

A variety of parking options exit in the area - monthly leases, hourly rates in garages, as well as metered parking. Parking is free on Sunday and after 6pm Monday through Saturday in metered street spots.
